Sun Safe for Life!
Sun safe for life
We believe life is truly lived outdoors – think of all you’d miss if you weren’t out there soaking up all life has to offer! But that outdoorsy life comes with a risk factor – the Australian sun is harsh on our skin, and with rates of skin cancer growing each year, we need to be proactive in protecting it. And it starts from day one.
If a child begins wearing a hat from birth they soon realise that hats are an essential part of their everyday outfit – not just an accessory – setting them up with the skills to becoming #sunsafeforlife. With summer coming at us fast (where HAS the year gone?) we’re dedicating the month of November to preparing families around Australia for this wonderful yet dangerous time of year with tips, tricks and product giveaways and recommendations.
Here’s what we have planned to help you get ready for some summer fun in the sun - safely!

The moment you know you’re going to be a parent is the moment that instinctive need to protect your child kicks in. It’s a never-ending, exhaustive effort to do so, so we thought we’d help out in the sun-protection department by giving away newborn hat packs to soon-to-be parents*.
Upload an image of your ultrasound (for babies due from October 1, 2019) to receive a Protect the Potential gift pack and be in the running for other prizes.
*Capped at 2000 entries.
Paying it forward
FREE newborn hat
with every purchase
Every order via our website in November will receive a Protect the Potential gift pack which includes a newborn size white legionnaire sun hat and sun-safety information booklet*.
Our plan is to start as many newborn babies on their hat-styling journey as possible and we hope you’ll help us spread our hats far and wide by gifting this pack (if you don’t need it yourself!) to a new mum friend, expecting family member or perhaps you could make someone’s day by handing it to a pregnant stranger at the shops! Give and enjoy the feeling it gives you too!
*Capped at 1000 orders. Minimum order of $14.95.
Hats for life
WIN two Bedhead bundles
a year for 10 years
Ok, so we’re not suggesting you still need a monster truck bucket hat at 35 (although we’d LOVE to see a pic if that’s your hat of choice!), but we’re hoping to really impact one family’s sun safety by gifting them two Bedhead bundles each year for 10 years.
That pretty much has your kids’ childhood covered (literally!) and can include any of our bundles available. Look out for this giveaway on our Instagram and Facebook pages from November 5 - enter both to double your chances!

Check out our blog and socials this month for all things summer preparation. We’re chatting to swimsuit experts on the best style for your body shape, stealing exercise tips from the Kangatraining team, sharing the insides of influencer’s beach bags, and getting you to spill your top sun-safety products, cool-down spots and summer-survival advice!
We’d love to have you get involved and spread the word about our giveaways to your friends, families and followers on social media by using the #sunsafeforlife hashtag and sharing your own sun-safe stories.
New summer bundles have you covered
One hat is never enough! Our new Summer Essentials Bundle contains three hats from our new range: a plain-coloured hat for the everyday, a printed hat to fancy it up a little, and a swim hat for waterplay. Bundle up to include a Rash Vest and matching Wet Bag and your summer sun-safe swimwear is sorted!
Bonus giveaway: we’ll choose five ultrasound uploads to receive a Summer Essentials Bundle and Swim Bundle-Up at the end of the month.
Protect the potential
Partnering with charities
With Australia having one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world, Bedhead Hats is committed to helping parents instill good sun-safety habits in children at a young age. Through our annual Protect The Potential initiative, we give away $200,000 worth of newborn baby hats to Australian babies via charities, hospitals and ante-natal clinics. It’s our effort in taking responsible steps to making a difference to the next generation of children. Read more about our initiative here.
