On the colder days, you can’t beat the warmth and comfort of a winter fleecy beanie. In Winter, caps and beanies are needed to keep baby and toddler’s heads warm as most of the heat from a baby’s body escapes through their head. Our beanies come in two fun characters – Teddy and Koala – to not only do the job of keeping them warm and snug, but doing it adorably too! Choose from three popular, easy-to-match colours in our Teddy beanie, and grey marle for the koala. Both styles features a cosy Sherpa-style fleece lining for ultimate warmth. Complete the wintery cosy factor with matching beanie and mittens and booties which match our range of winter fleecy hats perfectly and feature the same cosy lining.

If you think winter is purely a time for beanies, think again! While it IS nice to get all cosy and warm and snug in fleecy legionnaire hats and cute bear beanies, there is also a place for sun hats for children in the cooler months. Despite the cold, there are really only four weeks in the year when the UV is low enough that it’s safe to venture outside without sun protection. All other times? That sun will burn! And because children’s skin is more susceptible to sun burn than an adults, any UV exposure in their early years greatly increases the risk of them developing skin cancer later on, and we don’t wish that on anyone, having experienced it a lot in the Bedhead team. Try our legionnaire and flap hats for babies, or our buckets and broadbrim range for toddlers and older kids. We’ve even got an adult’s range for matching families and great role modelling.

Not only is a baby hat an essential part of daily wear in Australia to protect them from the harsh sun, it’s also a good step to ensuring your child is a happy hat wearer, as once they start daycare or school, those hats will need to be staying on heads! By wearing our soft, cosy legionnaire style hats or baby beanies from birth when they can’t move their little hands, babies will just become accustomed to something on their head so by the time they’re on the move, those hats will stay put because it’s become as normal to them as wearing a nappy!
